Best Built-In Grill Brands by Budget: Honest Tiers From Grill Techs [2026 Prices]

Cleaning Grill Services
Cleaning Grill Services

Entry built-in grills like Blaze, Lion, Summerset and Napoleon run about $1,200 to $2,500 for a 32 inch head. Mid-tier grills such as AOG and Fire Magic Choice run about $2,500 to $5,000, premium brands like Lynx, Hestan, Alfresco, Twin Eagles and Fire Magic Echelon run about $5,000 to $10,000, and luxury grills like Kalamazoo go well past $10,000.

Key points

  • Price tiers mostly reflect steel grade, burner quality and parts support, not BTUs.
  • Entry grills ($1,200 to $2,500) work well but wear out internals faster, especially near the coast.
  • Mid-tier grills ($2,500 to $5,000) are often the best long-term value.
  • Premium and luxury grills cost more to repair, so get the model and serial number on file.
  • Measure your island cutout before shopping for a replacement.

We clean and repair built-in grills from just about every brand sold in California, Arizona and Utah. After enough years under hoods, you stop caring about the brochure and start caring about three things: how thick the steel is, how long the burners last, and whether you can still get parts in eight years. This guide sorts built-in gas grills into four honest budget tiers. Prices are for the grill head only, at the 32 to 36 inch size most people buy, from real retail listings we checked in October 2026. Sales move these numbers around by 10 to 25 percent.

We don't rank brands one through ten. A good grill in the right budget, installed correctly and cleaned a couple of times a year, beats an expensive grill nobody maintains.

Entry tier: about $1,200 to $2,500

This is where most first outdoor kitchens start, and a lot of these grills do a solid job for the money.

  • Blaze Premium LTE 32 inch: about $1,800 to $2,000. 304 stainless body and cast stainless burners, with 443 stainless used for flame tamers and the firebox. Lights and a rear infrared burner come standard.
  • Lion L75000 32 inch: about $2,150 on sale, $2,900 list. 304 stainless exterior and cast 304 stainless burners, four burners at 60,000 BTU total.
  • Summerset Sizzler 32 inch: about $2,300 on sale, around $2,950 list. Body and hood are 443 stainless with 304 tube burners.
  • Napoleon Built-In 700 Series 32 inch: about $2,200.

Bull, Cal Flame, Kokomo and Turbo also compete in this range and into the low mid tier.

What you get: decent heat, lights on many models, a rear rotisserie burner on some, and parts that are cheap and easy to find. What you give up: thinner sheet metal, lighter hoods, more plated or thin-gauge parts inside, and burners and heat plates that wear out sooner, especially near the coast. Expect to replace flame tamers and igniters more often. Check our Blaze parts price guide or Lion parts costs to see what upkeep looks like.

Want a pro to handle it?

Most companies in our network are dealers or have dealer accounts, so they can usually bring the right part and install it in one visit.

Mid tier: about $2,500 to $5,000

Grills here usually have heavier construction, better hood seals and longer burner warranties.

  • AOG (American Outdoor Grill) L-Series 36 inch: about $3,000 to $3,350. Made by the same company as Fire Magic, with a reputation for simple, durable burners.
  • Fire Magic Choice C430i and C540i: about $3,700 to $4,350.
  • Delta Heat, Summerset's upper lines, Blaze Professional and Coyote also live in this band.

What you get: thicker steel, more even heat across the grate, better rotisserie setups, and in our experience fewer service calls for rusted-out internals. This is the tier we point most homeowners toward when they ask for the best value for the long haul.

Premium tier: about $5,000 to $10,000

These are the grills you see in high-end builds, and the price jump is mostly about build quality and features, not just heat.

  • Fire Magic Aurora A540i 32 inch: about $5,600 to $6,450. Echelon Diamond E660i 30 inch: about $7,950 to $8,600. Echelon E790i 36 inch: about $9,100 to $9,800.
  • Lynx Professional 36 inch: about $7,700 to $8,350.
  • Hestan 36 inch with rotisserie: about $7,800 to $8,200.
  • Alfresco ALXE 36 inch: about $7,100 on sale, close to $9,600 list.
  • Twin Eagles 36 inch: about $7,800 to $11,700 depending on options.
  • American Muscle Grill, PGS, Wolf and DCS also sit here.

What you get: heavy hoods with good counterweights or springs, cast or heavy-gauge burners with long or lifetime warranties, infrared sear zones, strong rotisseries, interior lights, and better welds and seams. The tradeoff is parts cost. A burner or valve for a premium grill can cost two to four times what it does on an entry model, and some brands have changed part numbers over the years, so the model and serial number matter a lot. See the Lynx parts cost guide and the Fire Magic parts cost guide for real numbers.

Luxury tier: $10,000 and up

At this level you are paying for materials, size and craftsmanship. Kalamazoo's K750 built-in hybrid grill, which burns gas, charcoal and wood, lists at about $26,000. Larger 42 to 54 inch versions of the premium brands, and fully loaded Twin Eagles or Fire Magic Echelon setups, also cross $10,000.

These grills cook beautifully and are built to last decades. They also need the same cleaning and occasional parts as any other grill, and when something breaks, you want a tech who has seen that brand before.

What the price difference looks like in real life

From the service side, here is what separates tiers more than BTU numbers:

  • Steel grade and thickness. 304 stainless resists rust far better than 430 or 443. Lower-cost grills often mix 304 outside with 443 inside.
  • Burner design and warranty. Cast stainless and brass burners outlast thin tube burners.
  • Hood weight and hinges. A heavy hood holds heat and seals better.
  • Parts support. Brands with a long history and dealer networks are easier to keep running. Ask before you buy whether parts for the last generation are still available.
  • Ignition. Cheaper battery spark modules fail more often than hot surface or premium electronic ignition.

Brands Pro Grill's store carries

The Pro Grill store sells parts and grills from Blaze, Lion, Summerset, Bull, Cal Flame, Delta Heat, AOG, Fire Magic, Alfresco, Twin Eagles, Lynx, American Muscle Grill, PGS, Artisan, Kokomo, Turbo and a few others. We carry them because we service them every week. That doesn't make them better than Hestan, Napoleon, Kalamazoo or Wolf, which we also work on and respect. You can shop Fire Magic parts at the Pro Grill store or browse Blaze parts, and if a part isn't listed, ask Pro Grill to find the part.

Buying advice from the people who fix them

Spend the money on the grill and the install, not on the side burner you will never use. If you live near the ocean, pay for 304 stainless and plan on cleaning more often. Read our guide to choosing a built-in grill before you shop, and if you are replacing an old grill in an existing island, measure the opening first and run it through the grill cutout fit guide so you don't buy something that won't drop in.

Most service companies in our network are dealers or have dealer accounts, so they can usually get the right part and install it in the same visit. When it's time for a tune-up, find a grill repair pro near you, or look up typical grill installation costs before you get quotes.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most reliable built-in grill brand?

There is no single answer. From the service side, brands with heavy 304 stainless construction, cast or brass burners and long parts support, like Fire Magic, AOG, Lynx and Twin Eagles, tend to need fewer major repairs. A well-maintained mid-tier grill often outlasts a neglected premium one.

Is a $2,000 built-in grill worth it?

It can be. Entry grills like Blaze and Lion cook well and parts are cheap. Expect to replace flame tamers, igniters and burners sooner than on a mid or premium grill.

Why do premium built-in grills cost so much?

Thicker 304 stainless, heavier hoods, better burners with long warranties, infrared sear and rotisserie systems, and long-term parts support. Parts for these grills also cost more.

Does the grill price include installation?

No. The prices here are for the grill head only. Insulated jackets, gas line work, island construction and installation are extra.

Which grill brands hold up best near the ocean?

Grills built mostly from 304 or marine-grade 316 stainless hold up best. Some brands sell marine-grade versions. Regular cleaning matters as much as the steel.
