Price insights
- Disposable grease tray liners (Napoleon 6-pack): $6
- Weber catch pan kit or catch pan with holder: $24 to $38
- Weber slide-out grease or drip tray: $50 to $60
- Weber Spirit grease tray assembly (2009 to 2012): $140
The drip tray is the most ignored part on a grill. It collects grease, ash, and whatever falls through the grates, and on most patios it gets emptied about once a year if at all. Eventually it rusts through, warps, or catches fire. Replacing one is usually simple, but the price swing is huge. A Weber catch pan can be under $25, and a Lynx drip pan can cost more than a whole entry-level grill.

What drives the price
Size, material and brand. Mass-market grills use thin stamped or porcelain-coated steel trays, which are cheap to make. Premium built-ins use heavy stainless trays that run the full width of the grill and often have welded corners, handles and slides. Those cost far more.
There is also a difference between the drip tray (the big slide-out tray under the burners) and the catch pan (the small cup or pan that the tray drains into). On many grills you only need the catch pan.

Part-by-part breakdown
Liners and catch pans
Disposable foil liners are the cheapest fix and the best way to protect a tray. Napoleon's 6-pack of disposable grease trays is about $6. Weber catch pan kits and catch pans with holders run about $24 to $38. If your tray is in good shape and just dirty, liners and a good cleaning may be all you need.
Mass-market grills
Weber is the cheapest major brand for drip trays. Slide-out grease trays for Genesis II and Spirit grills run about $50 to $60 OEM. Aftermarket Weber-style trays run about $50 to $79. A full Spirit grease tray assembly for 2009 to 2012 grills is about $140. Vermont Castings trays run about $79 to $94 by length. The Weber grill parts cost guide covers other common Weber repairs.
Store-brand grills are where it gets tricky. Members Mark and similar trays run about $119 to $150 when you can find them, and many older store-brand grills have no replacement tray available at all. In that case, a tray from a sheet metal shop or a careful measurement for a universal pan is sometimes the only option.
Premium built-in grills
Premium drip trays are heavy stainless and priced accordingly:
- Solaire and TEC: about $103 to $167.
- Fire Magic: about $128 for Aurora, Echelon, Magnum and Echelon Diamond trays. Fire Magic charcoal grill pans and drip trays run about $91 to $322.
- Alfresco rotisserie drip pan: about $99.
- Artisan grease tray assemblies: about $263 to $280.
- Lynx grease drip pans: about $400 for the L27, $494 for the L36, $525 for the L42 and $569 for the 54 inch. Older LBQ stainless grease trays run about $727.
Lynx trays are a good example of why model and series matter. They are sized by grill width and changed over the years, and Lynx part numbers have changed many times. The Lynx parts cost guide and the Fire Magic parts cost guide have more brand detail.

Signs you need a new drip tray
- Rust holes or thin spots you can push a screwdriver through.
- A warped tray that will not slide in or out.
- Grease leaking onto the cabinet floor or the island below.
- Signs of a grease fire, like scorched or discolored metal under the burners.
A leaking or rusted-out tray is more than a mess. Grease that drips into a built-in island or onto a cart's floor is fuel for a fire, and it attracts rodents that chew gas hoses. If you see grease where it should not be, check the hose too. Our regulator and hose price guide covers those parts.
Clean it or replace it
Many trays that look ruined are only filthy. A heavy-duty degreaser, a plastic scraper and some patience will bring back most stainless trays. Replace the tray if it is rusted through, warped, or cracked at the seams. On premium grills, a professional BBQ cleaning usually includes the drip tray, heat plates and burners, and it is often cheaper than replacing a $400 tray. While the grill is apart, it is worth checking the heat plates too, covered in our heat plate and briquette tray guide.

OEM vs aftermarket
Aftermarket drip trays exist for popular mass-market grills like Weber, and they are usually fine. For premium built-ins, there is little or no aftermarket. The tray has to fit the grill's slides and seal against the firebox, and a poor fit lets grease spill into the island. Buy OEM for Lynx, Fire Magic, Alfresco, Artisan and other built-in brands.
Find your model and serial number first
Drip trays are sized by grill width and often by generation. On many built-ins, the rating plate is on the drip tray rails or on the firebox side behind the tray, so you will see it when you pull the tray out. On Weber and other cart grills, check inside the cabinet door or on the frame. Alfresco fitment depends on serial number, and Fire Magic E-series, A-series and Echelon grills each have their own parts. Take a photo of the plate and measure the old tray before ordering.
DIY or hire a pro
Swapping a drip tray or catch pan is a DIY job on almost any grill. It slides out and the new one slides in. A pro visit makes sense when the tray is part of a bigger problem: a grease fire, burners rusted from grease buildup, or a grill that needs a full teardown and cleaning.
Most companies in our network are dealers or have dealer accounts, so they can usually get the right tray and replace it during a cleaning or repair visit. You can find a grill cleaning or repair pro near you or browse local grill repair services.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a replacement grill drip tray cost?
Weber trays and catch pans run about $24 to $140. Fire Magic drip trays are about $128, Artisan grease tray assemblies about $263 to $280, and Lynx drip pans about $400 to $725.
Can I use a universal drip pan in my grill?
On some cart grills, a universal pan or disposable liner works if it fits the catch pan holder. On built-in grills, the tray must fit the slides and firebox, so use the OEM tray.
How often should I clean my grill drip tray?
Empty and wipe the catch pan every few cooks and clean the full drip tray at least a few times a season. Heavy grease buildup is a common cause of grill fires.
Why are Lynx drip trays so expensive?
They are full-width, heavy stainless trays built for each grill size, and they sell in small numbers. Expect about $400 to $570 for current sizes.
Are disposable drip tray liners worth it?
Yes. They cost a few dollars, make cleanup faster, and protect the tray from rust. Napoleon's 6-pack runs about $6.
