Based on current listings checked October 2026. Your exact price depends on model, size and part number.

Replacement grill grates cost about $50 to $485 per grate. Weber, Blaze and Summerset grates run about $50 to $160, while a single OEM grate for Lynx, Alfresco, Twin Eagles or AOG runs about $270 to $485, and Fire Magic Diamond Sear sets can pass $1,100.

Price insights

  • Weber sells grates as sets for the grill, usually $90 to $240.
  • Premium built-in grates are usually priced per grate, and most grills use two or three.
  • Aftermarket stainless grates for Lynx, Alfresco and Twin Eagles often cost 30 to 60 percent less than OEM.
  • Stainless rod grates last longest. Porcelain-coated cast iron chips and rusts over time.
  • Measure your old grates and get the model number before ordering, since sizes vary within one brand.

Cooking grates take more abuse than anything else on a grill. They get scraped, soaked in grease, heated past 600 degrees and left out in the rain. Eventually porcelain chips off, cast iron rusts through, or stainless rods crack at the welds. When that happens, the replacement price depends on the brand, the material, and whether your grill's grates are sold as a set or one at a time.

Grate types and how they wear

  • Porcelain-coated cast iron. Heavy, holds heat well, and leaves good sear marks. Common on Weber, Fire Magic and many mid-range grills. Once the porcelain chips, the iron underneath rusts.
  • Porcelain-coated steel rod. Light and cheap. Found on budget grills and some older Fire Magic models. It wears out fastest.
  • Stainless steel rod. The standard on most built-in grills. Thick rods last many years and clean up well. Thin stainless rods on cheap grills can sag.
  • Hexagon grates. Twin Eagles uses a stainless hexagon pattern that keeps small food from falling through. They are priced at the high end.
  • Diamond Sear and channel grates. Fire Magic and AOG Diamond Sear grids, and Weber stainless channel grates, use shaped bars that hold heat and cut flare-ups. They cost more than rod grates.

Cast iron grates need oil after cleaning and should not soak in water. Stainless only needs a brush and the occasional deep clean. Our guide to cleaning grill grates covers both.

What grill grates cost by brand

Weber and other mass-market grills: about $60 to $240 per set

Weber sells most grates as a set for the whole grill. Porcelain cast iron sets for Spirit grills run about $105 to $130. Genesis II cast iron sets are about $90 to $161, and stainless Genesis and Genesis II sets about $138 to $241. Summit stainless rod sections are about $103 to $147 each, with full sets about $320 to $440. Weber Q cast iron grates run about $95 to $146.

Aftermarket grates for Weber are easy to find. Stainless rod grates for Spirit II models run about $64 each, and matte cast iron sets for Genesis II grills about $97 to $159. The Weber parts price guide lists other common parts.

Mid-range built-ins: about $50 to $150 per grate

Blaze standard stainless grates are about $51 each, the heavier Blaze Pro grate about $150, and the triangular searing rod grate about $93. A Summerset Sizzler grid is about $110, and an aftermarket stainless grate that fits both Sizzler and some Blaze grills runs about $59. See the Blaze part prices and Summerset part prices for more.

Premium built-ins: about $270 to $485 per grate

Premium grates are usually sold one at a time, and a 36 to 42 inch grill uses two or three of them. That adds up fast.

  • Twin Eagles stainless hexagon grates run about $273 to $380 each.
  • Alfresco cooking grids are about $310 to $362, and Sear Zone grids about $385 to $394.
  • Lynx cooking grids run about $320 to $485 each, and the ProSear grate about $440.
  • AOG sells grids as sets, about $306 for a 24 inch grill and up to about $458 for a 36 inch Diamond Sear set.
  • Fire Magic is the widest spread of all. Deluxe porcelain rod sets start around $157. Cast iron and porcelain cast iron sets for Regal and Elite grills run about $545 to $820. Diamond Sear stainless sets for Aurora and Echelon grills run about $595 to $1,150.

Fire Magic grids are sized by grill line (Aurora, Echelon, Regal, Custom, Deluxe, Choice), and a 660 grid will not fit a 790. Check the Fire Magic parts cost guide before ordering. Lynx grates also vary by grill width and series. See Lynx replacement part prices.

OEM vs aftermarket grates

Grates are the best place to save money with aftermarket parts. A well-made stainless rod grate cooks the same as the original, and nothing about it affects gas safety. For premium grills the savings are big:

  • Lynx aftermarket grates run about $134 to $220 vs $320 to $485 OEM.
  • Alfresco aftermarket grates run about $109 to $141 vs $310 to $394 OEM.
  • Twin Eagles aftermarket hex grates run about $209 to $230 vs $273 to $380 OEM.
  • Fire Magic aftermarket stainless rod grates for Deluxe and Echelon run about $58 to $80.

What you give up: Diamond Sear, hexagon and other signature patterns usually have no aftermarket version, or the copy uses round rods instead. Check rod thickness, too. Thin rods heat unevenly and can sag. Measure the old grate front to back and side to side, and check whether it rests on a ledge or on pins.

When to replace grates

  • Porcelain is chipping and the iron underneath is flaking rust.
  • Stainless rods are cracked at the welds or the grate has warped so it rocks.
  • Rods have burned thin near the burners.
  • Food sticks no matter how well you clean and oil the grate.

Light surface rust on cast iron can often be scrubbed off and re-seasoned. A professional deep clean can also bring stainless grates back to near new. Before buying, consider a professional grill cleaning.

Find your model and size first

Get the model and serial number off the rating plate. On Weber and most cart grills it is a sticker inside the cabinet door or under a side shelf. On built-ins it is usually behind the drip tray or on the front frame. Then measure each grate, because many brands use two or three different grate sizes on the same grill, such as a narrow center grate on a 42 inch Lynx.

DIY or hire a pro

Grates are a lift-out, drop-in part. No tools, no gas work. The only reason to call a pro is if the grates are part of a larger repair or deep cleaning, or if you want help confirming the right size. Most grill pros measure and order grates during a regular service visit.

How Pro Grill and our network pros can help

Most service companies in our network are dealers or have dealer accounts, so they can usually get the right grates for your grill and bring them on the next visit. Find a grill pro near you.

Pro Grill can also source grates for most brands, including ones not in its online store. Ask Pro Grill to find your grates with your model number and the grate measurements. For built-in brands the store carries, you can shop Lynx grates at the Pro Grill store or browse Blaze parts at the Pro Grill store.

Frequently asked questions

How much do replacement grill grates cost?

Weber and other mass-market grates cost about $60 to $240 for a full set. Premium built-in grates from Lynx, Alfresco, Twin Eagles and AOG cost about $270 to $485 each, and most grills need two or three.

Are stainless steel or cast iron grates better?

Cast iron holds heat and sears well but needs oiling and rusts once the coating chips. Thick stainless rod grates last much longer with less care, which is why most built-in grills use them.

Are aftermarket grill grates worth it?

Yes, for most grills. Grates do not affect gas safety, and a good aftermarket stainless grate often costs 30 to 60 percent less than OEM. Just match the size and rod thickness.

How often should grill grates be replaced?

Porcelain cast iron grates often last 3 to 5 years. Heavy stainless rod grates on built-in grills can last 10 years or more with regular cleaning.

Why are Fire Magic Diamond Sear grates so expensive?

They are heavy shaped stainless bars made for specific Aurora and Echelon grill sizes and sold as sets of 2 or 3. That puts a full set around $595 to $1,150.

How we get our pricesPrices come from current listings at authorized parts dealers, the Pro Grill parts store, manufacturer parts sites and Amazon, checked by hand.
