Price insights
- Halogen bulb, 10 watt (Lynx, Sedona): $18 to $20
- Alfresco and Artisan lamp (bulb): $43 to $45
- Delta Heat blue LED bulb: $37
- Lynx hood light assembly: $73 to $113
Grill lights are a nice feature right up until they stop working, which is usually on the first night you need them. The good news is that a dead grill light is often a $20 bulb. The bad news is that on some premium grills, the fix is a $270 power supply. Here is how the costs break down and how to figure out which part you actually need.

What drives the price
Three things: the brand, how the light is built, and whether the problem is the bulb, the fixture, the switch, or the power supply.
Most premium built-in grills use low-voltage halogen or LED lights inside the hood, and many light up the control knobs too. They run off a transformer or power supply plugged into a GFCI outlet in the island. Mass-market grills like Weber and Napoleon mostly use battery-powered handle lights or knob lights, which are a separate, cheaper story.

Part-by-part breakdown
Bulbs
Start here. A 10 watt halogen bulb for Lynx and Sedona grills runs about $18 to $20. Alfresco and Artisan lamps run about $43 to $45. A Delta Heat blue LED bulb for the control panel is about $37. Halogen bulbs inside a grill hood live a hard life, and they fail far more often than anything else in the lighting system.
Handle the bulb with a cloth or gloves. Skin oil on a halogen bulb creates a hot spot and shortens its life.
Hood light assemblies and lenses
If the socket is melted, the lens is cracked, or grease has gotten into the fixture, replace the whole assembly.
- Delta Heat D series and Twin Eagles C series light assembly: about $48.
- Lynx: about $73 for a single light and about $113 for a dual light with bulb.
- Alfresco: about $124 to $165, with separate left and right assemblies and different wire lengths by grill size.
- Alfresco replacement glass: about $68.
Switches and harnesses
When a bulb is good but the light does nothing, the switch or harness is next on the list. Lynx light switches run about $63, Alfresco switches about $62 to $66, and the Fire Magic Aurora light switch for 2020 and newer grills about $86 to $95. The Fire Magic Aurora lighted master switch is about $137.
Wire harnesses for LED lighting run about $58 for the Fire Magic Echelon backlit knob harness and about $78 to $114 for Lynx LED harnesses, depending on grill size.
Knob lights
Many premium grills backlight each control knob with an LED disk. When one knob goes dark and the others work, it is usually that disk. An AOG LED disk runs about $28 to $31 and a Fire Magic small LED disk about $67 to $74. When all the knobs go dark at once, look at the harness or power supply instead. Knob prices themselves are in our grill knob price guide.
Transformers and power supplies
When every light on the grill is out at once, the transformer is the usual suspect, after you check the outlet and GFCI. Prices vary a lot:
- Delta Heat: about $106.
- Alfresco ALXE: about $126.
- Summerset Sizzler Pro: about $132.
- Lynx 5 amp: about $180 to $192.
- DCS 12 volt: about $240.
- AOG L series power supply: about $272.
On some grills the same transformer also powers hot-surface igniters or rotisserie motors. If the lights and the igniters both quit at the same time, that is a strong hint. The ignition parts cost guide covers igniters.

How to narrow it down before buying
- Check the GFCI outlet first. Tripped GFCIs cause more dead grill lights than anything else.
- If one light is out and the others work, it is the bulb or that fixture.
- If one knob light is out, it is that LED disk.
- If everything is dark, check the transformer output with a meter if you have one, then the main switch and harness.
- Look for melted sockets or brittle wires. Heat and grease cook wiring over time, and a melted connector means a new assembly, not just a bulb.
OEM vs aftermarket
There is no real aftermarket for premium grill light assemblies, switches, harnesses or transformers. Halogen bulbs are the exception. Many grills use a standard low-voltage halogen bulb you can match at a hardware store if you bring the old one, but check the wattage and base type, since a higher wattage bulb can overheat the fixture or overload the transformer. For everything else, buy the OEM part made for your model.

Find your model and serial number first
Lighting parts change between generations more than most parts. Alfresco lights changed at serial 11, Lynx LED harnesses are sized by grill width and series letter, and Fire Magic switches differ between pre-2020 and 2020 and newer Aurora grills. Lynx part numbers have changed many times over the years. The rating plate is usually under the control panel, on the side of the firebox behind the drip tray, or on the drip tray rails. Photograph it before ordering.
DIY or hire a pro
Bulbs, lenses and plug-in transformers are owner jobs. Switches and harnesses mean pulling the control panel and working near gas valves and igniter wires, so many people hand that off. If the island outlet itself is dead or has no GFCI, that is a job for an electrician. Labor for grill lighting depends mostly on how hard it is to get behind the control panel and whether the grill has to come out of the island.
Most pros in our network are dealers or have dealer accounts, so they can usually bring the right light assembly or power supply and fix it in one visit. You can look up a grill tech in your area or check grill repair companies near you. A grill safety inspection is also a good time to have wiring checked.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to replace a grill light bulb?
Most grill halogen bulbs cost about $18 to $45. Lynx and Sedona 10 watt bulbs run about $18 to $20, and Alfresco lamps about $43 to $45.
Why did all the lights on my grill stop working?
Check the island's GFCI outlet first. If it has power, the transformer or power supply is the most likely cause. Grill transformers cost about $105 to $275 depending on brand.
Can I use a hardware store bulb in my grill light?
Often, yes, if you match the base type and wattage exactly. Do not go up in wattage, since it can overheat the fixture or the transformer.
Why is only one of my grill knob lights out?
Usually the LED disk behind that knob has failed. Replacement LED disks run about $28 to $74 depending on brand.
How much is a replacement grill light assembly?
Complete hood light assemblies run about $48 for Delta Heat and Twin Eagles, $73 to $113 for Lynx, and $124 to $165 for Alfresco.
