Napoleon grill repair should start with the actual problem.
A symptom tells us where to begin. It does not always tell us which part to replace.
Suppose your Napoleon grill suddenly has low heat. It may be tempting to order new burners immediately. Burners can certainly wear out, but gas supply, regulation, valves, orifices, restricted burner ports and other conditions can also influence flame and heat.
Ignition problems deserve the same approach. Napoleon's JETFIRE system is designed to ignite burners using a jet of flame. If a burner fails to light, we want to know whether the problem originates with ignition, fuel delivery, burner condition or another part of that sequence.
Diagnosis becomes even more important when a grill includes several different burner types. Main burners, an infrared side burner and an infrared rear burner perform different jobs. One system can have a problem while the others continue to work.

When a Napoleon burner won't light.
Napoleon's JETFIRE system deserves its own discussion because it is different from the spark-electrode arrangement many homeowners expect to see.
On many Napoleon grills, JETFIRE ignition lights the main burner using a dedicated jet of flame. The idea is straightforward: establish a reliable flame source that crosses into the main burner and initiates combustion.
If a Napoleon burner does not light, however, the presence of the JETFIRE system does not mean the ignition component is automatically at fault.
The main burner still needs the correct fuel supply and must be in suitable condition to establish and maintain flame. Gas controls, burner ports and other components can therefore become part of the diagnosis.
Another useful clue is whether one burner has stopped lighting or whether multiple burners are affected. A problem isolated to one position can point the diagnostic process in a different direction from a condition affecting the entire grill.

Infrared heat is a different burner system.
Napoleon's infrared SIZZLE ZONE is one of the brand's best-known cooking features and should not be treated exactly like a conventional tube burner.
On equipped Napoleon models, the SIZZLE ZONE provides a dedicated infrared cooking area intended for intense searing. Napoleon states that its infrared system can reach temperatures as high as approximately 1,800°F.
From a service perspective, what matters is that this is a separate burner system with its own operating characteristics. A SIZZLE ZONE complaint can occur while every main burner on the grill continues to operate normally.
That distinction gives us useful diagnostic information. If only the infrared side burner is affected, we can focus on the systems associated with that burner rather than assuming the grill has a universal fuel-supply problem.
The same concept applies to Napoleon's infrared rear burners. Main grilling, infrared searing and rotisserie cooking may all involve different burner assemblies within one grill.
Napoleon rear burner & rotisserie service.
Many Napoleon Prestige, Prestige PRO, Rogue and built-in configurations incorporate an infrared rear burner intended for rotisserie cooking.
The rotisserie system includes more than the burner itself. Depending on the model, the complete cooking setup can involve the infrared burner, motor, spit rod, forks, mounting hardware and electrical connection for the motor.
If the spit does not rotate, we want to know whether the motor is operating. If the motor works but there is no heat from the back of the grill, attention shifts toward the rear burner and its related systems.
Some larger Napoleon built-in models use more than one rear infrared burner, making correct model identification especially important before parts are researched.
The model number tells us far more than the Napoleon badge on the front of the grill. It helps establish the grill size, configuration, burner count and compatible components.
When a Napoleon grill isn't heating like it used to.
Main burners spend their lives in one of the harshest locations in an outdoor appliance. They repeatedly heat and cool while being exposed to grease, moisture, cooking residue and the outdoor environment.
Over time, burner ports can become restricted, burner material can deteriorate and flame patterns can change. In some cases, burner replacement is the correct repair.
But burners are only part of Napoleon's heat-management system. Sear plates positioned above them also receive constant exposure to heat and grease. These components help manage heat and shield the burners from direct drippings.
Above the sear plates sit the cooking grids, which transfer heat directly to the food. Napoleon's recognizable WAVE grids are designed around their curved shape rather than the straight bars found on many grills.
When diagnosing uneven cooking, we therefore look at the grill as a system. Burner condition matters, but so does what sits above the burner and whether heat is being distributed normally across the cooking surface.

Low heat does not automatically mean bad burners.
Gas has to travel through several components before it ever reaches a burner. That makes fuel delivery an important part of diagnosing low heat, unusual flame or a burner that does not behave like the others.
Depending on the grill and fuel configuration, the system can involve a regulator, manifold, individual valves, burner orifices and the burners themselves.
The control knob is what the user sees, but behind that knob is the valve controlling fuel flow. Farther downstream, the orifice meters fuel entering the burner.
Napoleon produces equipment for both propane and natural gas, and fuel-specific components need to correspond with the intended configuration. A component should never be selected simply because it appears to fit physically.
Important: if you smell gas, suspect a leak or believe a gas-control component is damaged, discontinue use and have the condition properly evaluated. Gas-related repairs are not a good place for guesswork.

Replace what is actually worn or failed.
A failed component does not necessarily mean the complete Napoleon grill needs replacement.
Depending on model, condition and parts availability, Napoleon grill service may involve burners, sear plates, ignition components, valves, knobs, regulators, orifices, cooking grids, warming racks, rotisserie components, grease-management parts, lighting or other hardware.
Correct identification matters. Napoleon has manufactured numerous series, sizes and configurations over the years. Parts that look similar in photographs may differ in dimensions, mounting points, fuel configuration or intended application.
Whenever possible, provide the complete model number rather than simply telling us you have a Prestige or Rogue. The specific model can substantially narrow the parts search.
When the appropriate component is available and the rest of the grill remains in worthwhile condition, replacing the failed part can extend the useful life of the equipment without replacing the entire BBQ.
